Custom Red Carpet Garment for Nancy Guppy — SIFF 2015
Commissioned by: Nancy Guppy
Designer: Danielle Blackwell
Photography: Ernie Saprino
In celebration of opening night at the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), I was commissioned to create a one-of-a-kind garment for Seattle icon and Art Zone host Nancy Guppy, who was on the red carpet interviewing filmmakers, actors, and festival guests.
Inspired by the bold visual identity of SIFF’s 2015 festival artwork, I designed a garment that harmonized with the event’s graphic language while reflecting Nancy’s dynamic, witty, and offbeat persona. The final look was playful, polished, and richly textural — allowing her to move fluidly between roles as interviewer, performer, and ambassador of the arts.
This piece was both an homage to Seattle’s vibrant creative community and an exploration of how fashion can serve as a point of connection — integrating public figures into the very visual fabric of the cultural moments they help shape.
