TRUST – Lo Fi Festival at Smoke Farm

TRUST — Choreographed by Rachel Green

Presented at Smoke Farm, Arlington, WA
Choreographer: Rachel Green
Costume Designer & Performer: Danielle Blackwell

Set against the wild, open landscape of Smoke Farm — a 360-acre land trust dedicated to the intersection of art, science, and environment — TRUST was a site-specific dance work rooted in themes of connection, surrender, and the physicality of belief.

In this collaboration with choreographer Rachel Green, I served as both costume designer and performer. I created two matching sculptural garments & an anatomical heart form that were both vulnerable and imposing — symbols of exposure, shared rhythm, and the raw physicality of trust. The costumes became central to the work’s visual and emotional vocabulary, amplifying the movement and dialogue between bodies in space.

This was a rare and transformative opportunity for me to move inside my own work — to perform within the very structures I had created — and to offer my body, breath, and presence as part of the live composition. The rural setting of Smoke Farm deepened the experience, inviting both performers and audience into a liminal space where nature, form, and feeling converged.
